Members Present- Mary Martin, Linda Bucher, John Sawyer, Bob Opilla, Stuart Kaufman, John Pesek (substitute for Dewey Caron) Pablo Huq, Charles Mason (chair), Paula Vasquez (graduate student representative)

3. New Business:
1. Committee recommended a three-year extension; subject to approval of the department chair
- Approved by committee contingent upon receiving a letter of approval from Chemical Engineering

committee due to issues brought to the attention of the chair and the Office of
Graduate Studies
b-1 Revision of an existing major: Ph.D. of Materials Science and Engineering
- Approved by committee with minor revision (typo)

- Proposal tabled for further discussion

g. Committee discussed the provisional program review process, focusing on the need for review to come at an appropriate time. The committee will prepare a proposal to extend the review period for advanced degree programs.
h. Committee discussed a need to review titling of degrees for graduate programs in general and particularly where the major title is similar to degree title. This issue will be held for a future meeting.
