Resolution to Grant Permanent Status to the Graduate Program in Energy and Environmental Policy (ENEP)

 

Whereas            the Graduate Program in Energy and Environmental Policy has completed its 3-year probationary period

 

Whereas            the External Review Committee, convened by the Office of the Vice Provost for Academic Programs and Planning, unanimously recommended in its June 2002 report that the ENEP Program should be made a permanent offering of the University of Delaware 

 

Whereas            the External Review Committee concluded that the ENEP Program is currently one of the three best such programs in its field, that its graduates during the probationary period were readily able to find employment, and that the Program serves the needs of graduate education, research and scholarship in a rapidly growing field

 

Whereas            the Deans of the Colleges of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Arts and Science, Engineering, Human Services, Education and Public Policy and Marine Studies  -- the five colleges cosponsoring the ENEP Program -- have unanimously endorsed the granting of permanent status to the Program

  

Whereas            the Dean of the College of Human Services, Education and Public Policy has specifically recommended conferral of permanent status to the ENEP Program in his January 3, 2003 memorandum to the Vice Provost of Academic Programs and Planning

 

Whereas            in his January 3, 2003 memorandum to the Vice Provost of Academic Programs and Planning, the Dean of the College of Human Services, Education and Public Policy further recommended administration of the ENEP Program in accordance with the ENEP Graduate Program Policy Statement passed by the University Faculty Senate in November 1997

 

Whereas            conferral of permanent status to the ENEP Program does not require the addition of new courses or library resources, be it therefore

 

Resolved            that permanent status be granted to the ENEP Graduate Program
