                Graduate minor / concentration:______________________________________

List program changes for curriculum revisions:

Change concentration title from “Biomechanics” to “Biomechanics and Motor Control”

Add to the concentration requirements:

HESC 250, Motor Development

HESC 428, Motor Control and Learning

HESC 429, Motor Control and Learning Laboratory

Change concentration requirement of MATH 349, Elementary Linear Algebra to:

Either MATH 341, Differential Equations with Linear Algebra I

OR MATH 349, Elementary Linear Algebra

List new courses required for the new or revised curriculum:

(Be aware that approval of the curriculum is dependent upon these courses successfully passing through the Course Challenge list. If there are no new courses enter “None”)

HESC 428, Motor Control and Learning

HESC 429, Motor Control and Learning Laboratory

Other affected units:

(List other departments affected by this new or revised curriculum.  Attach permission from the affected units.  If no other unit is affected, enter “None”)

We will request a letter of support from the Math Department.

Rationale:

(Explain your reasons for creating, revising, or deleting the curriculum or program.)

Biomechanics and motor control are related fields of study. At the undergraduate level, few students have developed a specialized interest in either of these fields. Combining the undergraduate course requirements will provide a stronger foundation of knowledge for the interested students and will also increase the numbers of students in the more specialized courses.

Program Requirements:

(Show the new or revised curriculum as it should appear in the Course Catalog.  If this is a revision, be sure to indicate the changes being made to the present curriculum.)

(Additions are asterisked.)

DEGREE:  BACHELOR OF SCIENCE

MAJOR:  EXERCISE SCIENCE

CONCENTRATION: BIOMECHANICS AND MOTOR CONTROL
