Faculty Senate Resolution

For the Merger of the Department of

Health and Exercise Sciences

And

Nutrition and Dietetics

Whereas,

faculty in the Departments of Health and Exercise Sciences and

Nutrition and Dietetics have voted to approve a plan to merge the

two departments into a single department to be known as the Department of Health, Nutrition, and Exercise Sciences, and

Whereas,

it is increasingly essential that students preparing for many careers in the health arena be knowledgeable about both exercise and nutrition, and

Whereas,

the proposal for the merger of these two departments into a single

Department is acceptable to the Dean of the College of Health and Nursing Sciences and to the Provost, be it therefore

Resolved,

That it is the sense of the Faculty Senate that we support the proposed merger of the departments of Health and Exercise Sciences and Nutrition and Dietetics, to be effective as of July 1, 2003.
