a.  Rationale for creation, revision, or  deletion:

CISC-106 Computer Science is no longer taught at the University of Delaware.  We propose to replace this required course in our curriculum with CISC-105 General Computer Science.

The content of both courses is similar except that CISC-106 uses the FORTRAN programming language while CISC-105 uses the C programming language.  In the past when both courses were taught, we allowed our students to take CISC-105 instead of CISC-106.  Our past experience indicates that CISC-105 is more than adequate for providing foundational training in computer science required by engineering graduates.  CISC-105 should adequately fulfill the educational requirements for environmental engineering students.
