a.  Rationale for creation, revision, or deletion:

In September 2000 the Department of Political Science and International Relations changed the requirements for the Political Science minor to include a required data analysis course, POSC 300.  After two years, we have concluded that this was not an appropriate change to the minor.  In essence, we would like to return to the previous requirements for the Political Science minor, and not require POSC 300.  The course has proven to be a barrier to students interested in a political science minor and is not fundamental to an understanding of the basics of political science.  Moreover, due to faculty retirements in the department we do not have the faculty to continue to offer the course to all of our majors (for which POSC 300 is still required) and all of our minors.
