Addition of Biochemistry Minor within the Department

of Chemistry and Biochemistry

 

Whereas,          the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry was one of the first in the nation to establish an undergraduate baccalaureate program in biochemistry in 1989, in anticipation of the surge in interest in biotechnology, and

 

Whereas,          the B.S. in Biochemistry program has grown during the interim to the point that it is the largest of the five baccalaureate programs in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, and

 

Whereas,          there has been a concomitant growth in interest outside the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry in the establishment of a Biochemistry Minor, especially among majors in the Department of Biological Sciences and Chemical Engineering, and

 

Whereas,          the establishment of such a minor does not require the addition of any new courses or library resources, be it therefore

 

Resolved,         that a Minor in Biochemistry be established in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry to accommodate majors in Biological Sciences, Chemical Engineering and related disciplines who are interested in this subject.
