Faculty Senate agenda. Proposing
department should complete form, attach as a cover page and forward to the
college dean. Documentation should include copy of curriculum as it is to
appear in the Undergraduate and Graduate Catalog. Proposals must arrive to the
Undergraduate/Graduate Committee by November in order to reach the Faculty Senate
by March 1. Proposals received after
this date cannot be implemented the following year nor included in the catalog
for that year.

options for students majoring in French Studies: Language and Literature,
Civilization and Culture, Period Studies and Area Studies. Their requirements are as follows:

Summary of program:
We propose to delete these FOUR specialized
options and to replace them with a streamlined, “one size fits all” major. The
course offerings and requirements of the French Studies major will not change. We have simply found that students are
put off by the numerous options, which they find confusing and which are really
more suited to a graduate program. Our
new major actually gives students more options and more freedom in organizing
their course of study. The proposed
description of our new French Studies major as it should appear in the
2004-2005 UD catalog is as follows:
