a.  Rationale for creation, revision, or  deletion:

Rationale for creation of  new minor in Foreign Languages and Literatures: Business Spanish

Many students who elect a Spanish minor are eager to learn the vocabulary, procedures, and mores of the Hispanic business environment. Such training will prepare them well for the job market both in the United States and abroad. Many students who are majoring in Business, International Business, Marketing, or Economics have requested that the Spanish minor be tailored more to their interests (Business) . The creation of this new minor will give more options to all of our students. Those with a literary and/or pedagogical orientation may elect our traditional minor with its literary emphasis, while those with business orientations may elect this new Business Spanish minor.  The minor in Business Spanish is designed to give understanding of the important international dimensions of business. It will also prepare students for the social and cultural norms of negotiating in Spanish-speaking countries.
