List program changes for curriculum revisions:

The requirements for the minor are reduced from “18 credits of ENWC courses including 205, 305, 406, and 408” to “16 credits of ENWC courses including ENWC 205, 215 [a new 1-credit version of 305], 406, and at least 6 additional credits from courses focused primarily on insects.

List new courses required for the new or revised curriculum:

(Be aware that approval of the curriculum is dependent upon these courses successfully passing through the Course Challenge list. If there are no new courses enter “None”)

ENWC 215, Entomology Laboratory.  This is a 1-credit, 200-level version of the current 2-credit course, ENWC 305, Entomology Laboratory.  It is currently being taught (05F) as an experimental course, ENWC 267.

Other affected units:

(List other departments affected by this new or revised curriculum.  Attach permission from the affected units.  If no other unit is affected, enter “None”)

None

Rationale:

(Explain your reasons for creating, revising, or deleting the curriculum or program.)

The new minor actually requires more insect-focused credits (total of 13, vs. 11 in the old minor), but more flexibility, since ENWC 408 (Field Taxonomy) is no longer required. This also differentiates the minor more from the major, which currently requires 18 credits of insect-focused courses, including 408 and 405 (Insect Structure and Function).

Program Requirements:

(Show the new or revised curriculum as it should appear in the Course Catalog.  If this is a revision, be sure to indicate the changes being made to the present curriculum.)
