Alan Fox, Philosophy Department

Candidate Statement, University Faculty Senate President-Elect

I take very seriously the obligation we all have to participate in service activities for the University community. I believe we all must take our turn to do the jobs that protect the integrity of the curriculum and the interests of students and faculty. I have served at the college or university level for almost every year of my tenure at UD. Most relevantly for this position, I have served several terms on the Faculty Senate as my department’s representative; I have served as member and chair of the Senate Committee on Undergraduate Studies; and I have served several terms on the Coordinating Committee on Education. This experience has prepared me well for the task of President-Elect and subsequently President, and I am eager to lead the Senate as it performs its important role of ensuring that students continue to receive the highest quality education we can provide.
