The Education Resource Center has a collection of a few hundred educational and psychological tests. These are assessment tools that have been requested by Education faculty members to directly support their courses. They include achievement tests, intelligence scales, behavioral checklists, personality measures, vocational preference inventories, diagnostic tests, and others, as well as microcomputer software scoring programs.
If adequate to meet course requirements, specimen kits are selected. However, if a course or clinical experience requires the administration of an instrument, the complete test kit, including consumable forms, is acquired. The Center also purchases microfiche tests, when requested by students in a graduate research methodology course, but there is only a small number of these items in the collection.
Because of the purchase restrictions and secure storage requirements of publishers, tests comprise a special collection within the ERC, with shortened loan periods and restricted access. The circulation policy is as follows:
Current UD student required to use an item in an Education course: Three day loan, with permission to take off premises. The ERC also has two standard reference tools in print: the Mental Measurements Yearbook series and the Tests in Print series. This is a duplication of two resources that are also available in the UD Library. All others: Two hour loan, on premises only, with no photocopying of the assessment portion or record forms permitted.
A few examples of the tests in our collection are the Peabody Individual Achievement Test (PIAT), Woodcock Reading Mastery Test (WRMT), KeyMath, and Kaufmann Assessment Battery for Children (K-ABC). They are in the online catalog under the TEST call number.
