Delaware Learning Resource System
What is the Delaware Learning Resource System
(DLRS)?
The DLRS is a statewide network of Centers that provide resources and
services to help educate
children, particularly those with special education needs. The DLRS
has three instructional
materials centers, one in each of Delaware’s counties. And it publishes
the Spotlight
on
Education newsletter.
Are the Centers for use by the
Community?
Definitely! The Centers were originally established for use by
classroom teachers. Now, all
educational staff, those in training, educational organizations,
parents, and daycare providers are
welcome.
What must I do to get
Materials?
The materials in each Center are available for loan at no cost to
the borrower. You need to
register at the Center before checking out materials. Materials
circulate for a one or two week
period. A computerized catalog lists the materials in the Center and
staff will help you use it.
Items from other Centers may be borrowed by requesting them from your
local Center. It is your
responsibility to return the items on time and in good
condition.
What Kind of Materials may be
Borrowed?
The state collection consists of over 25,000 books, VHS videotapes,
audiocassettes, filmstrips,
blackline masters, manipulatives, games, and computer
software.
How will I know what Materials to
Borrow and
Use?
The Center staff will be of great help in directing you to appropriate
materials. The staff also will
assist you in searching the Center’s on-line catalog to locate
materials on a topic of interest.
When are the Centers
Open?
The Centers are open Monday through Friday year-round. It is wise to
call before making a visit
because of local variations in operating hours and
days.
