In 1994, Mike Schwartz purchased a struggling dealership, Harley-Davidson of Wilmington, with only five employees. Within four years, Mike's Famous Harley-Davidson outgrew its Wilmington facility, and the world's first Harley-Davidson dealership with a museum and restaurant all under one roof was born. Today, Mike's Famous has three locations. Its 40,000 square foot complex in New Castle, Delaware is the world's largest selling dealership of new Harleys anywhere. Mike's newest locations include the "built-from-the-ground-up" Smyrna, Delaware dealership and New England's Groton, Connecticut complex. Schwartz' master plan is simple: focus on the mystique of Harleys and the image of highways, rest areas, motorcycles, and motor courts of the 1940s and 1950s. His is a "Route 66" experience that uncovers an extensive array of artifacts gleaned from the era. Mike's has been featured in over 100 publications and named the "#1 Dealership in the World" by DEALERNEWS magazine. The New Castle Mike's Famous is an eight-time winner of Harley's top honor, the Bar & Shield award. |
