| The University
of Delaware has grown from its beginnings as a small private
academy in 1743
to a major university. The University has over 14,500 undergraduates
and nearly 3,000 graduate students. It
seeks to enroll students from diverse backgrounds and a wide
variety of geographical backgrounds and countries. Currently
60 % of all undergraduates are non-residents of Delaware who
represent nearly every state and a number of foreign countries.
The University is strongly committed to enrolling and retaining
minority students.
