Facilities
The University of Delaware has an expansive, well-maintained campus with
excellent facilities. The University's Morris Library holds nearly two
million books, 450,000 government publications, and 22,000 journals--using
advanced state of the art technology for information retrieval. In terms
of athletic facilities, the University has two large, fully equipped gymnasiums,
two ice skating rinks, an indoor and outdoor swimming pool, and many tennis
courts. In addition, the campus has a music hall and two theaters for
cultural performances. The two University Student Centers -- Perkins'
Center and Trabant Center -- are home to over one hundred sixty student
clubs and organizations -- from international clubs to sport clubs to
religious organizations. Dining Halls are located throughout the campus.
ELI students can be housed in traditional dormitory rooms (air conditioned
in the summer)-- as well as in homes and apartments off campus. Finally,
the ELI enjoys one of the most modern language learning centers in the
country--with satellite reception from countries around the world, computers
(some that can interact with video disc), a broadcast audio lab, and individual
video/audio stations. The ELI recently installed its own state-of-the-art
computer classroom.
