In the 1972 picture on the right I must have been standing on the east side of the Brandenburg Gate. In 1992 I'm posing on the west side.

Without the Wall the traffic can now go through the Gate. All along the eastern side people were selling pieces of the Wall as souvenirs, along with thousands of Soviet and East German military trinkets.
