I went to the Stare Miasto both nights I was in
Warszawa. A happening place. On Sunday I walked to the Royal
Lazienki Park to hear a Chopin concert at noon. Would you believe
that it got rained out? Just as the pianist began playing that Chopin
piece which sounds like "I'm Always Chasing Rainbows," it began to rain.
Twenty minutes later the rain stopped. A touch of irony.
This was the only time in my month trip that it rained.
The rest of the time was hot and humid.

On my first night in town I found a tower next to the square. I bought
a ticket to the belfry and climbed up to get some photos. When I came
back down I started a conversation with the couple who were selling
the tickets -- Kasha and Dariuz. They invited me to their apartment later
in the evening. We were joined by some other Americans who live in
Warszawa.
Kasha and Dariuz showed me home movies (video) of their wedding. It was quite informative. Their apartment building was hundreds of years old. |
