| On my last day in Beijing I rented a bicycle from the Qianmen Hotel and set out exploring the city. I saw these people motion to me when I was pointing my camera in their direction. I sat down at their table and they ordered me something to eat. Thousand-year-old eggs, my mediocre phrase book told me. The little girl belonged to the restaurant. |

I looked all around the Bejing Train Station for a subway entrance. I naively thought that the characters for "subway" would be the same as they were in Japanese -- i.e. "chika tetsu (ground-under-iron). But Chinese uses some different kinds of characters for subway. I eventually found it. I sure hope the guy sleeping above the stairway doesn't walk in his sleep. |
| You have to hunt around to find an empty parking place for your bicycle. Then you have to buy a little parking ticket. This is across the street from the main train station. |
