Short Term Programs

The ELI offers a number of short term specialized programs for organizations with special needs and interests. Since 1985 the ELI has designed and implemented short term summer programs for universities from many different countries -- as well as for foreign and U.S. government agencies and foundations -- that provide English instruction for specific purposes.

Groups ranging in size from 10 to 200 students with either heterogeneous or homogeneous populations arrive at the University of Delaware for a self-contained language training and cultural orientation program. Past short term programs have focused on pre-academic training in food science, government/public service, pharmaceutical, business, and law.

The ELI designs a specialized curriculum; recruits and trains faculty from across the country; arranges all housing, linens, and dining services; designs and coordinates an extensive orientation program of travel, cultural activities, and recreation; and provides a final report to the sponsors. The programs have received high marks from both the sending organizations and student participants.
