Experience America
The program’s cultural component is designed to complement the academic
program as an experiential and hands-on opportunity for Institute
participants to interact with a broad range of individuals, visit
a broad range of organizations and institutions and participate in
different community events. The wealth of local and regional resources
include national historic landmarks and sites, art collections, community
events, diverse community groups and services.
Participants will also spend significant time experiencing host
family life and will be asked to prepare materials about their culture
and beliefs to educate Americans in various formal and informal settings.
Trainers in the academic program component of the Institute will
draw on the Experience America component to inform content, references,
examples and scenarios used in the classroom
