ELI Housing -- DormitoryOn-campus housing is in the Christiana Towers dormitory. The Christiana Towers are high-rise apartment-style dormitories. Most of the students who live in these dorms are University of Delaware upperclassmen, juniors and seniors. In addition to the apartments, the dormitory complex has a dining hall, computer center, a small market, and recreational facilities. Basketball, volleyball, and tennis courts are located just outside the buildings. Christiana Towers apartments have two bedrooms, a living room, efficiency kitchen, and bathroom. Two students live in each bedroom, so there are four people per apartment. No single rooms are available. The apartments are furnished with beds, desks, bureaus, draperies, closets, and lamps. Students must provide their own pillows, sheets (extra long - 80"), blankets, and telephone. These items are available in stores close to campus. Students who wish to live on-campus must submit the housing application and a deposit of $250 to reserve their dormitory space. Dorm housing availability will not be determined until one week prior to the start of the session. Continuing students need to be given the chance to decide if they wish to stay in their rooms before we are able to assign their room to a new student. In the event that on-campus housing is not available for you, the ELI will inform you before the start of the session. Students who live on campus will receive a bill for their housing fee after they arrive in Newark. University of Delaware dormitories and dining halls are closed during holiday breaks in late August & December when the ELI is not in session. ELI students may stay in their rooms during these times, but will be billed for the extra week(s). If you are staying during the December break, you must be enrolled in the next ELI session beginning in January.
