ELI HomestayWelcome to your home-away-from-home! Homestay Delaware wants to invite you to consider living in a homestay during part, or all, of your time of studying English at the ELI in Newark, Delaware. Homestay Delaware hosts make the decison to join us because they have a desire to share their lives with international students like you. They want to learn as much as possible about you and your culture, just as you want to learn about American people and their culture. Students who live in a homestay find that their English improves dramatically through conversation and daily involvement with their families. A homestay will provide you with a safe, clean and caring atmosphere during your study in Newark, Delaware. Your homestay owner will help you to adjust to American lifestyle, introducing you to the Newark area and how to get around. We have carefully selected each homestay owner. Based on your homestay application, we will try to place you with a homestay that fits your needs. Homestay costs are comparable with costs of staying in a dorm, plus you will have included amenities such as laundry, telephone, bed linens, bath towels, televisions, DVD players and other conveniences found only in a home environment. Homestays are usually special experiences, making good friends and memories for everyone involved. The ELI homestay program works in association with the University of Delaware, but it is a separate organization and not a department within the University.
For more information about the Homestay Program, please contact the ELI's Homestay Coordinator, Mrs. Nancy Purcell.
