Deb Detzel
Assistant Director
Deb Detzel came to the ELI as summer faculty from 2000-2003. Because she found the ELI to be such a great place to be, she began to teach year round at the ELI in 2004 and became Assistant Director in 2005. As Assistant Director, Deb is responsible for and oversees ELI Student Services of all types including arrival, housing, orientation, scheduling, student records, community service learning and student events and activities. She also coordinates groups and teaches in the ELI EFL Teacher Training programs.
Deb Detzel's undergraduate work was in Linguistics and Computer Science. She obtained a MA TESL from American University in 1998. Her work experience includes four years of fieldwork in unwritten languages in the Maluku Islands of Indonesia, ten years in adult education for immigrants and refugees in Pennsylvania and three years as adjunct faculty/ESL coordinator at Penn State York Campus.
