Alumni Messages 2007December 10, 2007 Hi everybody, I am from Myanmar. I had been studying in the ELI for six months. my english is imporved a lot. However, it is not enough to use in the daylife. Before I though if I studied six months, I could able to use my english easily. Therefore I would like to suggest everyone who want to study English do not think we can learn english in a short time. If we want to success in speaking English, we need to keep ongoing. and practice everyday. Best wish!

I want to study a master in finance in a university in the United States. I would like to come back to the ELI before the beginning of my graduate program. I miss everything there in the ELI. See you soon. Nancy Zamudio
August 28, 2007 Hello everybody! I was just going through the virtual tour and I'm so happy to see all those faces I once met at the ELI. Grant Wolf, Lisa Grimsley, Dr. Stevens, Dave.... Almost 13 years ago. Wow! Time really flies. But I had such a wonderful time at the ELI that I would never forget that awesome experience. Well, I've been teaching since I arrived to Panama, and I really enjoy it. I also got married and I have two beautiful daughters: Ericka and Vivian. I would like to thank all of you for the wonderful moments and the knowledge that you shared with all of us during that winter session. Thank you very much...

June 27, 2007 E-mail: manueldelatorre@prodigy.net.mx Hello ELI staff, alumni and friends. I was ELI student from august 1997 to march 1998; it means almost 10 years ago. I want to celebrate my 10th arrival anniversary, writing a letter to the ELI community. When I arrived to Newark everything was new for me, country, people, teachers, way of life, etc. After seven months at the ELI, many changes occur, and my life from that moment changed. I was expecting to learn English as my first objective, but when everything finished I discovered many other things the ELI gave me. First of all I have to say that I found friends who helped me to learn English instead of teachers. I found more friends ready to help me in everything they could instead of ELI administrative staff. I found great and amazing friends instead of classmates. I found an incredible town where everybody was happy instead of a campus. I could write a lot of things to describe my memories about Delaware, but even in my native language (Spanish), I couldn't find words to describe my feelings and I only can say "you have to live it, to feel it and understand it." To finish this message I want to describe my trip to Delaware as "I lived a dream, and also I learnt English." Juan Manuel

March 16, 2007 Dear Mr. Stevens, Thank you very much for your return. It´s been a long long time since I left Newark/DE, 1982/2007: 25 years are gone very fast. I am now father of two young boys: Gabriel (09) and Matheus (04), and have become a Mechanical Engineer (since 1986) and lived for some time in Germany (August 98 - July 99). During the past 25 years I have returned to the USA three times: 1989, 1999 and in 2004. The last time, I visited Texas for a NPRA - National Petrochemical and Refiners Association Congress. I have worked in the Petroleum Business and continue to do so up to now. Since 2003 I live in São Paulo, after 10 years in Curitiba. Thanks again for your return and, please, put me in the mail list for up-dates on UDELI. It was really nice hear from You at UDELI. BEST REGARDS, Flávio Luiz Gallas Fonntenelle
