I joined only 5 weeks in ELI as an exchange of Miyagi Prefecture which has partnership with University of Delaware but I studied English throughout understanding by English, not Japanese. Moreover, I felt I wanted to study more and more in my life. I'd like to say thank you for all people who I met in ELI.

I am really glad to complete my English language education at the ELI. It's necessary to say that ELI is one of the most successful intensive language schools in the US. I strongly recommend that people from all around the world come and study at the ELI. You must be wondering why people have to choose the ELI. Because, ELI provides lots of opportunities to its students in the beautiful ambience of the UD Campus. Besides that, ELI itself is a beautiful ambience with its tutoring classes, host family programs and activities, language partner programs, friendly and experienced instructors, and many other things.

I am grateful for the time I shared with all of you.

I am Macarena Romano from Spain. First of all I would like to great the whole ELI, especially Dr. Stevens. I learnt from the newspaper I received every year from ELI that beloved Ruth Jackson had passed away. I'm from Granada and I went to ELI, eleven years ago, having the great chance to have Ruth as a teacher. She was so good to me! I learnt a lot from her and I remember her so tenderly. Now I am an English teacher myself, a high school teacher. No doubt dear Ruth Jackson is my everyday inspiration. I will never forget her.

Dear Students and Colleagues,

I just wanted to send best wishes from the little town (population 2,000) of Centreville on the eastern shore of Maryland where I live with my two HUGE, beloved dogs. Since returning from Bulgaria in 1999, I have been teaching Freshman Composition and Literature to International Students at Anne Arundel Community College near Annapolis. I also had the joy of completing the graduate institute at a famous liberal arts school - St. John's College in Annapolis. At St. John's we read ALL the CLASSICS, and then sat around and talked about them. Simply Heaven!

I would love to hear from my never-to-be-forgotten former students and colleagues. I cherish the treasure box of memories from the amazing decade I worked at the ELI: 1981 - 1994 in the U.Sand in Bulgaria. Those of you who worked beside me and those of you who attended my classes have enriched my life more than you will ever know. My son Jason sends his best wishes too; he is a musician and artist living in Santa Cruz CA with a lovely friend.

With fond regards, Sandy

How are you ? It´s been a long time. I write you to say Happy New Year 2006. I want to say to you that my child is now three years old. And I am 4 years old of happy marriage. I have been working for five months here in my home town in the judicial branch. I´m working as a assistance manager of the administration of justice of the Palace of Justice here in Pereira - Colombia. It´s been a good expereince. I have practice a lot my english. Many Canadians and people from the United States and Europe come to my office to legal the adoptions of colombian children. I have the opportunity to talk with them everytime they come to my office. My boss hired me because I speak English and we have to get in touch with many foreigners.

My brother Enrique Millán. Do you remember him? He is working in a big company here in my home town . He is working at the Industrials Association of Colombia. He is the director.

I hope this year I can come and visit you with my wife and family. I missed you guys. Thanks for everything.

Say hi to DR. STEVENS. And I am very sorry about Ruth jackson´s death. She was a very good teacher and I remember her a lot.

Hi everybody!

It is so regretful to listen the farewell of Ms Ruth. According to Heidegger, a famous existentialism philosopher, we cannot avoid passing away. Our exist, basically flows, but we do not catch in everyday life.

Now I am working at Samsung Electronics in finance and accounting after obtaining MBA at Maryland.

Still, I remember the first day I went to the Delaware with hope for the future. That time, March 1993, it was so difficult to communicate by English even if my confidence was high. Of course, Newark may have changed drastically since I studied there. That time Newark was really small place to feel traditional American suburban life. What a wonderful place to live for international students who have no good English speaking ability. The whole town was warm to the international.

I want to say all students, if you want to be, you can do so. Stay the course, you can make it!

Alfred
