Quarterly Facility
Inspections
Department Safety Committees are charged by University Policy 7-2
to conduct quarterly facility inspections. These should be coordinated at
the quarterly safety committee meetings. The results of the inspections
should be reviewed at each committee meeting. Common violations noted can
serve as an indication of areas where the department needs additional
training. Facility problems recorded
need to be reported to FIXIT or 831-1141 for maintenance items and the Department
of Environmental Health & Safety for major concerns. Inspections can be performed
in a variety of ways: self-inspection, committee inspections, peer inspections,
Department of Environmental Health & Safety inspection or a combination of these
methods.
