Description of Biological Safety Cabinets and Laminar Flow Clean Benches

Biological safety cabinets are primary containment devices for use with infectious agents. They are divided into classifications regarding level of risk. The cabinet class required is dependent on the type of work to be performed. Laminar flow clean benches are used for work with nonhazardous materials only.
