Certification of Biological
Safety Cabinets and Laminar Flow Clean Benches
Biological safety cabinets and laminar flow clean benches are
certified on an annual basis by an outside vendor contracted by the
Department of Environmental Health & Safety. Cabinets should also be
certified upon installation at the University. The certification
is necessary to verify proper function of the cabinets. Recertification is necessary
if a cabinet is moved to a new location. Please notify Krista Murray, Biosafety
Officer, as soon as possible of any plans to move biological safety cabinets or
laminar flow clean benches, thereby allowing the Department of Environmental Health & Safety to address any special hazards or concerns.
The
Department of Environmental Health & Safety must have a listing for all biological
safety cabinets and laminar flow clean benches for the annual certification.
