Tonya Bartell serves as Assistant Professor in the School of Education at the University of Delaware. Dr. Bartell's research agenda involves developing and understanding effective teacher professional development that integrates issues of equity and issues of mathematics teaching and learning. Her current projects focus on investigating secondary teachers learning to teach mathematics for social justice, the demonstration of teacher expectations in words and actions and its effect on teachers' practice and student achievement, and exploring personal stories in relation to a commitment to equity in mathematics education and the potential implications for teacher professional development.
