Laura T. Eisenman serves as an Associate Professor in the School of Education and Advisor for the interdisciplinary Disabilities Studies Minor at the University of Delaware. She teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in special education and conducts research on the transition to adult life for students with disabilities. Her interests include understanding how schools can foster students' self-determination, the social and community experiences of young adults with significant disabilities, and exploring the meaning of disability identity in educational contexts. Currently, Dr. Eisenman is PI on Delaware’s Transition and Postsecondary Programs for Students with Intellectual Disabilities (TPSID) model demonstration grant. She also is completing a longitudinal study of an inclusive high school and is a consultant on an NSF-funded evaluation of Research in Disabilities Education projects.
