Joan Buttram is interested in using program evaluation strategies to strengthen the development, implementation, and outcomes of educational programs. Over the last 15 years, most of her evaluation and research efforts have focused on school improvement, educational leadership, and professional development efforts, often in very low-performing schools. Although she thinks we know a lot about how to improve these efforts, Dr. Buttram believes we still face huge challenges in applying this knowledge in schools and districts. In her work, Dr. Buttram hopes to learn more about how educators use this knowledge to improve programs for students.
