Dr. Farley-Ripple is an Assistant Professor in Educational Leadership and currently works with the M.Ed. in School Leadership program. Her current courses include Data-Based Decision-Making for School Leaders and Practicum: Data Analysis Project. She has also taught courses outside of the University of Delaware in the area of education policy.
Dr. Farley-Ripple's research expertise includes the areas of: evidence-based decision-making, organizational studies, teacher policy, predictors of achievement and school dropout, accountability, as well as policy and program evaluation. She is a quantitative researcher with extensive experience managing, organizing, and analyzing large databases and conducting longitudinal and multilevel analyses. Dr. Farley-Ripple also conducts qualitative research directed at understanding decision-making and evidence-use processes in educational organizations. Her work has been published in Education Policy, American Journal of Education, Urban Education, and as book chapters and technical reports. She has also presented her work at the conferences of the American Educational Research Association, the American Sociological Association, the American Association of School Administrators, and the Population Association of America.
Dr. Farley-Ripple has earned her Ph.D. in Educational Policy from the Graduate School of Education at the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to her doctoral work, she received an M.A. in Quantitative Methods in the Social Sciences from Columbia and has used those skills in the field of education research. Beginning as a research assistant at the Center for Social Organization of Schools at Johns Hopkins, she continues her work with former University of Pennsylvania professor Ruth Curran Neild, Research for Action, the Philadelphia Education Fund, the University of Louisville, and Johns Hopkins University.
