Autism Certification via Course of Study
The 15-credit Autism Certification that is embedded in the master's program can also be obtained through continuing education as a course of study. Certified special education teachers are able to take these courses, and the Autism Certification can be attached to any Delaware special education teaching certification.
Required Courses (12 credits)
- EDUC 624: Introduction to Autism and Severe Disabilities
- EDUC 625: Methods and Curriculumfor Individuals with Autism and Severe Disabilities
- EDUC 626: Functional Communication for Individuals with Autism and Severe Disabilities
- EDUC 681: Techniques for Behavior Change
Required Elective (3 credits)
To complete the Autism Certification Course of Study, students must elect one of the following 3-credit courses:
- EDUC 646: Assistive Technology for Secondary Schools and Work
- EDUC 652: Introduction to Technology in Special Education and Rehabilitation
- EDUC 654: Augmentative and Alternative Communication
- EDUC 655: Assistive Technology
- EDUC 673: Transitions from Secondary Special Education
- EDUC 684: Vocational Training and Assessment of Students with Severe Disabilities
