Higher Ed Moratorium

The faculty of the School of Education has decided that the M.Ed. in Higher Education Administration program and the higher education area in Ed.D. in Educational Leadership program will be placed on an admissions moratorium that will likely last until fall 2013. Among the factors in the decision includes the recent passing of long-time program coordinator, Dr. Barbara Curry, and the formation of a new College of Education and Human Development and its search for a permanent dean.
During the moratorium, the faculty will examine how to develop and staff a first-rate higher education graduate program. It is our hope that we will admit students to a new program that begins in the fall of 2013.
In fall 2010, the last cohorts were admitted to the M.Ed. in Higher Education Administration program and the higher education area of the Ed.D. concentration in Curriculum, Technology and Higher Education (CTHE). It should be noted that the curriculum and technology areas in the Ed.D. in Educational Leadership program remain active and interested students should consider applying to those areas.
We will continue offering courses in higher education administration through spring 2012. It is not certain whether higher education administration courses at the master’s or doctoral level will be offered past spring 2012. All core or required Ed.D. courses will continue to be offered. Any currently enrolled student who is concerned they will not complete their higher education coursework by spring 2012 should contact their advisor and Dr. Gail Rys at gailrys@udel.edu or (302) 831-1632 to discuss their situation.
Anyone who has applied to the M.Ed. in Higher Education Administration program for spring 2011 or future terms may have their application moved to another University of Delaware graduate program, or the applicant may have their application fee refunded and the application will be withdrawn by the University.
