Upper Division Clearance Requirements
ETE students must satisfy the following Upper Division Clearance (UDC) requirements before they can take the curriculum courses in their junior year. All sophomores complete the UDC application in the spring of their sophomore year. An email will be sent to you during your sophomore year to notifying you of a sophomore class meeting where you will learn how to apply. There are three categories of requirements for clearance: Praxis I tests, coursework, and GPA.
Praxis I Tests
The Praxis I tests must be passed according to the Delaware state guidelines. Check out the Praxis I page for information about how to register and prepare for these tests in reading, writing, and mathematics.
Coursework
The courses below must be successfully completed with a grade of C- or better.
- Two of the three English/linguistics courses
- Two of the three science courses
- Two of the four social sciences courses
- MATH 251, 252, and 253
- All of the following education courses: EDUC 100, 205, 210, 230, 240/247, 258/259, and 286
GPA
The minimum GPA requirement for UDC is 2.6.
