Applying to Doctoral Programs

Printed below is a summary of each program's admission requirements and the deadlines for applying. Although the deadlines vary somewhat depending on the specific program to which you want to apply, each one of these programs uses the same online application process. To apply to any one of the programs listed below, follow this link to submit your application online:

All School of Education graduate programs have the following minimum application requirements:

1. A completed on-line Application Form.
   
   
2. A Personal Statement.
   
   
3. Three (3) letters of recommendation. Recommendations must be submitted electronically. You may  find more information about submitting recommendations by following this link to www.udel.edu/gradoffice/applicants/.
   
   
4. Transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate (if applicable) studies should be uploaded as part of your application. Applicants who previously attended the University of Delaware should list our institution on their application, but need not provide a transcript.
   
   
5. All students whose native language is not English must submit official copies of the TOEFL or IELTS test. The minimum acceptable score for the paper-based TOEFL test is 600; the minimum acceptable score for the Internet-based TOEFL test is 100. The minimum acceptable score for the IELTS is 7.0.

In addition to these general admission requirements, some programs have additional admissions requirements.

The following programs require applicants to submit official GRE scores:

• Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.), all concentrations

The following programs do not require GRE scores:

• Doctor of Education (Ed.D.), all concentrations

Application Deadlines

Application deadlines vary somewhat, depending on the program to which you apply. The deadlines are as follows:

• Doctor of Education (Ed.D.): February 28 (Fall entry)
  
  
• Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.): December 15 (Fall entry)
