Taking Courses Before Applying or Being Accepted

If you are debating if a masters program at the University of Delaware is the right choice for you, then you might want to enroll in a few courses through the University of Delaware’s Professional and Continuing Studies. You may transfer a maximum of nine credits taken through Professional and Continuing Studies into your masters program.

A common question is, “Which course(s) should I take so that I can transfer them into the program if I apply?”

  • You may complete and transfer any of the general core courses. These are the only courses that are guaranteed to be accepted.
  • All other courses you complete in the MI program are based on the goals you submitted with your application and are agreed upon with your advisor in advance. As such, we cannot guarantee any other coursework you complete prior to being admitted into the program will be accepted as transfer credits. However, if you decide you must take something other than a general core course, consider some of the examples provided in the Individualized Courses portion of the Required Coursework. Again, these courses may not be accepted.
