LABORATORY MANAGER AT UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT LAB

Lab Manager—Full Time, The University of Virginia Social Development Lab, Curry School of Education and the Center for the Advanced Study of Teaching and Learning, University of Virginia.

The UVA Social Development Lab conducts research on contemporary issues in education science from an interdisciplinary perspective. Specifically, our research examines how schooling and classroom experiences contribute to children's social and academic development in early and middle childhood. See www.socialdevelopmentlab.org.

We are seeking an ambitious, enthusiastic, and organized Laboratory Manager to assist with the daily operations in relation to large scale research studies. The position will start as soon as possible. Initial employment is for one year, renewable annually for up to four years.

The position will involve:

  • project set-up
  • project management and planning
  • data collection logistics
  • budget management and tracking
  • coordination of classroom coding staff
  • data base management
  • data integrity work
  • IT user support
  • website management
  • logistical support of a research team in a remote location.

The qualified candidate possesses:

  • Masters degree minimum in statistics, psychology, education, or related field.
  • Past experience with project management, including budget management, procurement, and staffing.
  • Ability to handle project logistics and handle complex planning tasks.
  • Ability to oversee the lab database and ensure data integrity as well as oversee the IT infrastructure.
  • Ability to use and master new technology.
  • Competence in using Word, Excel, PowerPoint as well as SPSS, SAS, or similar statistical packages. Familiarity with MySQL is a plus.
  • Strong integrated thinking and creative problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated accountability with excellent collaborative skills.
  • Ability to communicate clear, concise, information both written and verbal.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and deliver high quality results in a timely manner in order to meet regular deadlines.

TENURE TRACK ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF DEVELOPMENTAL PSYCHOLOGY
The Department of Psychology, University of California, Riverside, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position with a research focus on social-emotional development beginning July 1, 2009.

The Ph.D. degree is required at the time of the appointment and applicants should have a significant record or promise of outstanding research.Salary will be commensurate with education and experience. We seek applicants with research experience in any area of social and/or emotional development.
