• Genetic anthropology, ancestry, and ancient human migration (HGPI) This is a quick overview of the field and its ethical questions, as described by the Human Genome Project.
• Indigenous groups oppose National Geographic, IBM project, May 9, 2005, mongabay.com (Please note that this has three pages. You need to click on link at end of pages 1 and 2.) This article is from 2005, at height of controversy over the National Geographic's Genographic Project (which is described in the previous reading).
• Review chapter 13 (prehistory) of Ridley's Genome

• The coordinators of the Genographic Project emphasize that their project is "a collective effort for a collective cause." What do they mean by the two terms (collective effort and collective cause), and why do you think they came to place such strong emphasis on both?
