P/F Writing Assignment


  1. Write two restricted-response essay questions for your test. Both should be for one of the three highest Bloom levels (analysis, synthesis, or evaluation). Please specify which particular specific learning objectives the essay questions address.
  2. Make one of the items an interpretive item--that means it is preceded by material that needs to be interpreted (paragraph, graph, etc.). Interpretive items can be either multiple-choice or essay format. You can do either or both on your test construction project. This P/F exercise is to have you practice using the restricted-response essay form.
  3. Write the scoring rubric for both essay questions. (You can see sample rubrics in your book or in the list of readings for Units 7 and 8.)
  4. Review the checklist on page 248 to make sure that your question passes the tests for good essay items.
