  1. How does the dining plan work?
In order to use your dining plan, you must present your UD1 CARD (your ID card) every time you enter the dining hall or other dining facility. A scanner reads your card's magnetic strip and records your meal or amount of purchase. The terminal will display how many meals you have left if you are using a meal plan or how many points remain if you are using points.

  2. What is included in my dining plan meals?
All meals in the four dining halls are all-you-care-to-eat meals. Dining Services plans menus so that each combination of entrees is served only once every three weeks. In addition to the daily menu, each dining hall offers a salad bar, pizza, grill, deli, and action stations. They also feature monthly theme nights and monotony breakers throughout the semester.

  3. What type of dining plans are transfer students and freshmen required to purchase?
If a student lives in a residence hall, a dining plan is required. Students may choose from 15 plans offering various combinations of dining hall meals and points. If a student is commuting from home, living off-campus, or in the Christiana Towers apartments, he or she may choose from any of the plans, but purchasing a dining plan is optional.

  4. What dining plan is best?
The plans are designed to fit a variety of eating habits and busy academic schedules. Choose the plan that best matches your current eating style. Nineteen meals is the best value for your dollar if you eat three meals per day on weekdays and two meals per day on weekends. If you are an "on the go" eater, the plans with more points may be better options. More points require greater personal budgeting responsibility so that you will not run out or have too many left at the end of the semester/session.

  5. How can I get a menu before I go to the dining hall?
Complete weekly menus for each of the dining halls are posted in the entrance to each dining hall and on-line. For quick review of the day's main menu, you may visit the Dining Services' web site, www.udel.edu/dining. This also contains information about our menus, hours and other important information.

  6. How convenient is it to eat at the dining halls?
For even greater convenience, Kent Dining Hall is open continuously from breakfast through dinner, Monday through Thursday. An express take-out lunch and dinner option is available during weekdays at Russell Dining Hall. There, you can select a prepared meal that's ready to go and ready to eat.
    * The number of dining halls and hours of operation are reduced during the winter and summer sessions.

  7. What are points?
Points offer cashless purchasing power in any on-campus dining location. Points may be used in any of the four dining halls for all-you-care-to-eat meals for you or for a guest. Points may be used in the various campus food courts, snack bars, convenience markets, take-out and delivery spots as well as the dining halls. For additional information on Points, click here.

  8. Can I change my dining plan?
Yes, you may use the online Change form to add or make adjustments to your dining plan from January 9, 2006 through February 20, 2006, or in person at the Student Services Building. Note: you have ONE final opportunity to change your dining plan from the DAY THAT CLASSES BEGIN, which is January 6, 2006. Dining plan changes may result in credits or changes to your University account based on the difference between the price of the new plan selected and the price of the original.

  9. What happens to my unused points?
Unused points carry over from Summer Session to Fall Semester to Winter Session to Spring Semester. These carry-over points are nonrefundable, and all unused points are forfeited at the end of each spring semester.

  10. Can I get help with my special dietary needs?

  14. Can I use my friend's UD1 CARD?
NO! UD1 CARDs are NOT Transferable and are for the use of the student to whom they were issued. Keep your UD1 CARD secure at all times to prevent unauthorized use. Misuse of UD1 CARDs is not tolerated.
