Office of Annual Giving: Fund
for Delaware
|
In the past, you may have received a phone call from the University of Delaware, but did you know who was on the other end of the line? The Fund for Delaware is a telefund program that employs approximately 150 UD students each year from every college within the University. Their job is to provide outreach to our alumni, parents and friends by announcing events and new programs, updating biographical information, and answering questions. Operating since 1982, the Fund for Delaware and its students are also responsible for seeking out financial support, helping the University to make fundraising more personal. The students are knowledgeable on current UD initiatives and programs, understand the financial needs and priorities of each college and are able to help identify areas of support that mean the most to you. While seeking financial support is a primary function of the program, the Fund for Delaware also fosters the educational experience at UD by providing a ‘resume building’ job experience. Significant time is spent helping the students develop skills such as building rapport and overcoming objections. Our students also have the advantage of gaining insight on UD history, often hearing about ‘the glory days’ from our alumni or how student life has changed over the years. In addition, the program centers on friendly team competition and many friendships have evolved over the years – some that may even last a lifetime. We hope you enjoy hearing from our student
callers. The next time you receive a call from the Fund for Delaware,
we invite you to share your UD enthusiasm and experiences!
