GENERAL INFORMATION
WHAT IS THE DELAWARE CENTER FOR TRANSPORTATION?

Joint venture between Delaware Department of Transportation
(DelDOT)
and University of Delaware (UD), established in 1993, and re-established
as the Delaware Center for Transportation in September 2001.

Overseen by Policy Council comprised of representatives
from DelDOT, UD, state legislature, Delaware Department of Natural Resources
and Environmental Control, and Delaware Economic Development Office

Information resource for UD faculty and
staff (and others)

Coordinates and sponsors research on transportation
subjects such as

Building bridges out
of advanced fiber-reinforced plastics

Understanding and relieving traffic congestion

Determining the relationships between transportation
and land use

Obtaining a better understanding of construction
materials

Improving transit service, including
paratransit for the elderly and disabled

Ensuring the safety of bridges and structures

Investigating the relationships between transportation
