ABI Prism 7000 Real-Time PCR
The Center for Translational Cancer Research
ABI Prism 7000 Real-Time PCR
The
Core Facility houses an ABI Prism 7000 Sequence Detection System.
This instrument combines thermal cycling, fluorescence
detection, and application-specific software to detect the accumulation
of target product cycle-by-cycle during PCR. Using flourogenic
TaqMan® probes or SYBR® Green 1 dye chemistries, the 7000
can provide real-time quantitation of DNA or RNA by monitoring
the exponential phase of the PCR reaction. Applications for real-time
PCR technology include quantitative gene expression analysis, pathogen
detection/quantitation, allelic discrimination (SNP detection),
and mutation screening.
Clients must contact Dr. David Usher (x6685 or dusher@udel.edu) to schedule a training session prior to using the 7000. This will be approximately one hour and cost $50. Clients then may request use of the instrument through the Cell Biology Core Facility Web Calendar. Each run takes 2.5 to 3.5 hours, and the fee is $30 per run.
ABI Primer Express® Software is the recommended method for primer/probe design. Contact David Usher for information.
Reagents and consumables for the 7000 (including SYBR® Green PCR kits and 96-well plates) may be ordered directly from Applied Biosystems.
