Major Resource Kit

Women's Studies

Women's Studies offers interdisciplinary perspectives on the past and current status of women around the world and on the formation of gender and its intersections with other relations of power, such as sexuality, race, class, nationality, religion, and age. Questions are addressed within the context of a transnational world and from perspectives as diverse as history, sociology, political science, linguistics, economics, anthropology, literary and cultural studies, philosophy, science, and the arts.

A major that is interdisciplinary in scope and content, Women's Studies uses its own philosophies, methodologies, and materials to reexamine the traditional scholarly disciplines in order to identify and correct misinformation and unexamined assumptions about "women's place" in human history.

Students interested in a Women's Studies major should contact Jessica Schiffman, Assistant Director, 34 W. Delaware Ave., or call 831-8474.
