Major Resource Kits

Human Services, Education and Public Policy

The Human Services, Education and Public Policy major (The "CHEP" major) is a planned course of study that allows students to take classes with an interdisciplinary focus while pursuing their own specific career goals. This major is designed around a selection of core courses that reflect the stated mission of the CHEP College - - to address problems that affect our children, our families, our schools, our communities, the environment, consumers and service institutions, and our public policies.

The CHEP major offers students the opportunity to select a primary interest area in the area of Education and Community Services. This concentration offers a core curriculum that draws from both Education and Human Services courses. Students also select a University minor to compliment their academic curriculum, and will complete a service learning experience. This experience is required of all students in the CHEP major, and provides an opportunity to integrate academic learning with practical experiences outside the classroom.

The CHEP major is designed to prepare students for a broad range of career paths. By emphasizing professional skills and opportunities through service learning experiences, this major will prepare students for productive careers in both the public and private sector, and businesses that develop and deliver services critical to our communities.

Students interested in the CHEP major should contact the CHEP Office of Student Support Services, 105 Pearson Hall, (302) 831-2301.
