Short Bio’s for Oral Comm Fellows – Fall, 2008
Vanessa Banegas: Vanessa is a senior Communication major and is taking minors in Spanish and Educational Studies. Vanessa is also a Ronald E. McNair Scholar and her research interests are in education. Along with Oral Comm Fellows, her other campus involvements include a position as a Resident Assistant and Undergraduate Advisor to Campus Alliance de La Raza, for which she previously served as Vice President of Latino delegation and Affairs. When she does have time to breath, she enjoys go out and dance, hang out with friends, and listen to music. |
Lindsey Blacker: Lindsey is a Mass Communication major and Legal studies minor. She is interested in possibly going to law school and is involved in the pre-law fraternity, as well as the Chi Omega sorority. She like tennis, rock climbing yoga, and Pilates, but her favorite time waster is arts and crafts! |
Lauren Boots: Lauren is a junior, Mass Communication major with an English minor. Born
and raised in Delaware, she is a beach girl at heart with big city dreams in mind for
her future. On campus, Lauren is a member of the Alpha Xi Delta sorority, and
enjoys being active in the Greek community. She also loves taking road-trips,
going to concerts, and spending time with her amazing friends here at the U of D.

Antonia Borelli: Antonia is a double major with Communication and Italian Education with a minor in Journalism. On campus, Antonia is the President of the Harrington Theater Arts Company. She is a news reporter for the Student Television Network. She also worked for a semester at the WVUD radio station as a news reporter. Antonia is also an active member of the University of Delaware Italian Club. Antonia is a Blue Hen Ambassador tour guide for UD as well. Antonia has received quite a few honors during her years at UD. She has made the Dean’s List every semester. She is also a member of the Communication Honor Society Lambda Pi Eta, the Italian Honor Society Gamma Kappa Alfa, and the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. Last summer Antonia studied abroad in Siena, Italy. She also interned at a local TV station called News 12 New Jersey. This summer Antonia will be in New York City working as an intern for ABC. Antonia is really excited to be an Oral Communication Fellow. Her father trained her public speaking and since then continues to enjoy it. She is very eager to spread her love of public speaking to others and help students who may struggle with it! She wants others to know that Public Speaking is fun!

Kristen Eastman: Kristen is a junior Mass Communication and Political Science double major with a minor in Journalism. Kristen is a member of the University’s Synchronized Skating Team for which she plays an active role as team treasurer. She is also a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. Kristen is from Minneapolis, Minnesota and has enjoyed her taste of the east coast.

Sarah Esralew: Sarah is a senior with a major in Mass Communication and a double minor in Political Science and Journalism. This Jersey Girl has transformed from a nervous to a comfortable public speaker and is eager to help you! Her interests include movie trailers, crosswords, concerts and pandas. Also, she is ready and willing to defend the Garden State at a moment's notice-- so be careful!

Andrew Frischman: Andrew is a Mass Communication major, with minors in Advertising and Political Science. A New Jersey native, Andrew enjoys writing, speaking, and media production. Along with Oral Comm “Fellowing”, Andrew is also involved with STN49's, The BiWeekly Show, the Public Relations Student Association, PRSSA, and is a brother of the Fraternity of Phi Gamma Delta (FIJI). He one day hopes to work in film or television. He specializes in presentation preparation and design, and at least five people in his life have told him he's been helpful. He'd love to help you, too.

Melissa Howard: Melissa is a junior majoring Mass Communication with a minor in English and
Journalism. She is also a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. Originally from
Central Jersey, Melissa enjoys shopping, hanging out with friends and family, and
the Jersey Shore. After college, she plans on living in New York City and workin in public relations. Melissa loves to travel and wants to see the whole world.

Brighid Scanlon:Brighid is a senior Communication and Spanish Studies double major with a minor in Theatre. She is a member of Riot Act improvisational theatre and Amnesty International. Brighid hails from the Philadelphia area and thus can often be found eating soft pretzels and grumbling about SEPTA. Her passions include singing, acting, eating, and above all PUBLIC SPEAKING. She loves meeting new people, and can't wait to get to know YOU!

Veronica Tucker: Veronica is a senior Mass Communication major with a minor in Political
Science. She has a passion for learning about other countries through travel,
with Israel and Greece already under her belt, and plans for a backpacking trip to South America that are in the works. She's fascinated by the Arab-Israeli conflict and would love to pursue a career in diplomacy upon graduation. She loves being involved in her sorority, Chi Omega, indulging in hearty soups and sandwiches, listening to sweet jams, taking part in and initiating a good laugh, and watching Bravo and TLC shows. This New Yorker grew up loving the great outdoors in the Hudson Valley region, so you can always find her outside on a
nice day! |
Kate Tyrawski: Kate is a Junior Interpersonal Communication major with a
Psychology minor. She is a member of Gamma Sigma Sigma sorority, and is secretary of Uganda Untold, a small RSO on campus. She comes from Wilmington, Delaware and works at a diner in Wilmington. She enjoys talking to her customers about any and everything- it's great practice for learning how to think on your feet!! She is obsessed with the Philadelphia Phillies and loves being a Blue Hen! |

Julie Urban is a first year Oral Communication Fellow. She is a sophomore from Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Her hobbies include playing lacrosse, exercising, and photography. She is an English major with a Journalism minor. Here at the University of Delaware she is involved in many other activities. She is a member of Alpha Xi Delta sorority, Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity, as well as a First-Year Experience peer mentor. She also writes for the fashion magazine UDress. She loves her roommates, her friend’s house on South Chapel Street, but most of all, she loves college!! |

Mike Vaccaro: Mike is a senior majoring in Interpersonal Communication and Marketing. He spent a year-and-a-half as the advertising chair for the school’s radio station, WVUD. He is currently an R.A. in Central Complex. He grew up on Long Island in New York, but he doesn’t speak like it. He is involved with the Blue Hen Marketing Club and hopes to either work in marketing or go to graduate school. He plays guitar, loves to listen to music and attend concerts. |

Kelly Vereb: Kelly is a senior with a major in Mass Communication and a double minor in Journalism and Political Science. Born and raised in Bowie, Maryland, she hopes to one day live in New York City. Besides being an Oral Communication Fellow, she is a member of Chi Omega and Lambda Pi Eta, the Communication Honor Society, as well as UD’s Women’s Club Soccer Team. You might also see her swiping your ID card or giving you a towel at the Little Bob! Her favorite food Main Street is the Balsamic Glazed Chicken Salad from Homegrown. She loves the beach, running, laughing, traveling and meeting new people. Her most recent internship; with the marketing department of Marie Claire has furthered her interest in this field as well as a career in events planning. She lives by the quote “The possible you do right away. The impossible just takes a little longer.” |

Lauren Zaremba: Lauren is a Junior Mass Communication and English double major with a
minor in Journalism. Born and raised in New York, she is a true city girl who can't live without Broadway and a good New York pizza. Lauren is a Blue Hen Ambassador on campus and has been involved in Public Relations Student Association, PRSSA, and The Biweekly Show. She plans to study abroad to London during Winter Session 2010. Her three favorite things to talk about are Grey's Anatomy, Twilight and the Broadway show Spring Awakening. Lauren is also planning to live in Manhattan after graduation and plans to pursue a career in publishing.
