The Lighter Side

Three books are
required reading. Other required readings will include all
or parts of papers and articles, many of which are available
on this page and the syllabus page.
There are two
optional books, and one optional video, for this class. You
will find them valuable in understanding the broadcast news
business, but they aqre not required reading.

Video note
You will be required for
this class to view the movie "The Insider" (see course
schedule). It will be available for viewing on DVD at the
Morris Library, and we may schedule a "group" viewing in at
an appropriate time, after you have completed the assigned
reading associated with our class.
An optional assignment
includes viewing the the recent release of "Blackhawk Down."
You may wish to make note of when the movie is showing, and
when the assignment is pertinent.
