Spirit of the Game
The Men's Rowing Club provides student athletes with a college rowing experience that teaches and practices the values of teamwork, dedication, fairness, sportsmanship, excellence and having fun, all while realizing that this mission is supplemental to the student's educational pursuits at the University of Delaware.
Organizational Meeting(s)
TBA
Membership
We accept any student who would like to participate. We are a men's team, however, we accept women who would like to compete as coxswains.
Practice Information
Practices are at the WYRA boathouse on the Christina in Wilmington during the semesters. There are also indoor erg workouts. Times vary during the week, but expect to practice both mornings and afternoons 6 days a week.
National and/or Regional Affiliation
Our team is affiliated with the Eastern Rowing Association of Colleges (ERAC) and the Dad Vail Rowing Association.
Membership Requirements
Athletes are expected to attend every practice unless they have a class conflict. Rowing is a big commitment that occupies at least 20 hours per week. Rower dues are expensive (about $1,000 a year); however we have fundraising initiatives to reduce the cost if it is a financial burden.
Equipment Required
The club provides every rower with a uniform to row in, called a unisuit. The club owns its own boats and equipment. The club has about 10 eight-man boats.
